Year 12 AS River Study Fieldwork: Snowdonia, North Wales.

FHS Year 12 Geographers Plan to Hit the Slopes of Snowdon!

On Thursday, our Year 12 Geographers are travelling to the slopes of Snowdon to complete a day to investigate a small upland stream.   In collaboration with the Field Studies Council, 33 geographers will embark on measuring core river characteristics in the upland beauty of Snowdonia.

As the images show above, it is an outstandingly beautiful location; typical of our British glaciated landscapes like The Lake District and the Highlands of Scotland.  Students have been planning to be well prepared, with plenty of warm clothing and waterproof layers.  Let's hope the wet and windy weather takes a break for our adventure!

Fieldwork is essential to Geography studies at Formby High School and will really help develop our students' knowledge and understanding.
