Formby Dunes Disaster

The Formby Champion has reported that the government is considering reducing funding (money) to Sefton's coastline. Local residents fear that this will mean that more anti-social behaviour and dune erosion will occur.

If the government cuts money given to the National Trust in Formby it could mean that some Rangers may lose their jobs and there will be less people to look after the dunes and patrol the beaches. Rangers are very important in Sefton as they take care of wildlife, such as, the precious Natter Jack Toad, manage dune erosion and repair areas that are used regularly. They also patrol the beaches and  make sure that visitors are safe and that they use the dunes in a sustainable way.

Could this mean the end of the Natterjack toad or fun days out on our local beach?
How will this impact tourism?
What do you think?
