Woman dies as storms hit Britain
A woman was killed by a falling tree in Exeter as floods and high winds battered the South West of England.
In some areas of Cornwall people were told to leave their
homes as floodwater and torrential rain caused "serious threats to life
and property". Severe warnings were issued for Lostwithiel, Helston,
Polperro and Perranporth in Cornwall where the situation is now said to
be improving. David Owens, duty director at Cornwall Council, said large teams had been working through the night to alleviate the situation.
